After evaluating the unit on-site, our field technician confirmed that the ice maker was operating as designed and that the ice bin was full at the time of service. The unit was also reported to Whirlpool’s Trade Care team under case number 22142295, where it was reviewed and verified to be functioning according to manufacturer specifications.
This particular model is a residential ice maker, intended for single-family household use. Based on information provided by staff on-site, the unit is currently being used in a commercial school setting, where ice is needed throughout the day by both faculty and students, including for first-aid and classroom use. Unfortunately, this level of demand exceeds what a residential unit is designed to support.
At the conclusion of the original service visit, the technician did advise that a commercial or undercounter ice machine would be more appropriate for this level of use. Because the unit was confirmed to be operating as designed and the same concern was reported again approximately one month later, Whirlpool’s Trade Care team reviewed the case and determined that the product was not serviceable for the same complaint under these conditions.
